Physical Requirements for Cable TV Installer/Technician

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to grip, grasp, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. In addition, the employee is required to perform repetitive work with hands and arms above shoulder height.


The employee will be required to lift and/or move equipment up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


Specific Physical Requirements
  

  • Lifting and maneuvering a ladder (minimum 30 lb and maximum 80 lb) on or off of a vehicle, telephone poles, and elevated work locations and structures.
  • Performing repetitive work with hands and arms above shoulder height.   
  • Twisting, crawling in and around confined spaces with entries as small as 12”x24”
  • Climbing utility poles and ladders while carrying up to 20 lbs of tools and safety equipment.
  • Working at an elevated height of 30+ feet on a ladder or telephone pole between 5 to 30 minute periods.   
  • Pulling cabling up to 300’ in distance from an elevated height of up to 35 feet.
  • Kneeling or squatting between 5 to 30 minute periods.
  • Carrying up to 40 lbs of tools and equipment over distances of 200+ feet.
  • Placing weight on mid-section/lower back/hips with a safety belt between 5 to 30 minute periods. 
  • Working in areas of extreme heat over 130 degrees for brief periods of time and outdoors in the direct sun between 1 to 10 hours a day.
