Cable TV Installer/Technician Job Requirements

Sunshine Communications, a Subcontractor for major cable companies, is currently looking for Technicians to install video, phone and internet services in residential homes in San Diego and Orange County.  Experience is a plus but not necessary.  We are willing to train the right candidate with the “can do” attitude with no experience.  Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required
to function successfully in this position. 


Major Job Duties:
 

  • Install/run cable wire to various locations in a home and/or to tap at the street.
  • Connect and disconnect cable services.
  • Perform upgrades & downgrades of service.
  • Install drops, outlets, converters, modems and other cable system devices in subscriber homes.
  • Code off work performed on electronic tablet device.
  • Educate customers on products and services.
  • Operate signal meter to verify services are operating within spec.
  • Calculate signal and make adjustments for optimal performance.
  • Lift Ladder (80 Lbs) from vehicle and Climb telephone poles.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:


This position requires that the candidate pass an extensive background investigation, drug screening, and possess a valid California driver’s license.  NO Excessive Violations.


ALL EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED USE THEIR OWN VEHICLE AND ARE REIMBURSED FOR USE. MUST
HAVE A CLEAN TRUCK, VAN OR SUV CAPABLE OF CARRYING A 28’ LADDER TO PERFORM THIS
WORK. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Must Be Able To:


  • Read and interpret documents such as work orders and procedure manuals.
  • Use a tablet device to enter job related data.
  • Complete basic mathematical calculations. 
  • Communicate effectively with customers and employees.
  • Understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Repeatedly lift and carry equipment and tools (up to 80 lbs) See Attachment for other physical requirements necessary to perform the job. 
  • Operate tools effectively, including but not limited to, drills, hammers, pliers, crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, and wrenches.
